Aiming For God’s Fullness!

God’s Child!

The first step to reciving all the FULLNESS OF GOD is to become God's child: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right (authority) to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13).

A child of God then grows to be an adult!

Growth!

The growth is through the "milk of God's WORD:" "Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow (up to salvation) thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious” (I Peter 2:1-3).

Becoming an Adult in The Likeness of Jesus!

Jesus (not any man or woman) is the example of the FULLNESS OF GOD! Here is the MANIFESTATION of GOD’S FULLNESS IN JESUS’ LIFE!

Fullness of GOD’S WORD!

Jesus demonstrates His fullness of GOD’S WORD on the Mount of Temptation when He defeated the devil, who was quoting half-truth from God’s WORD: “Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, ‘If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.’ But He answered and said, ‘It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Deuteronomy 8:3).’‘ Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, ‘If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.’’ Jesus said to him, ‘It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God (Deuteronomy 6:16).’’ Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, ‘All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve (Deuteronomy 6:13; 10:20).’’ Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him” (Matthew 4:3-11).

Fullness of GRACE!

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, FULL of GRACE and TRUTH” (John 1:14).

Jesus was not just gracious but was FULL OF GOD’S GRACE! Here are at least three instances in which Jesus exhibited God’s Fullness of Grace:

a)     Healing of the Roman Centurion’s Servant: “Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, ‘Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘I will come and heal him’” (Matthew 8:5-7).

b)     The Legion and His Deliverance: “And when (Jesus) got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed (and delivered by Jesus) begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, ‘Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.’ And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled” (Mark 5:18-20).

c)      The Woman Caught in the Act of Adultery: “When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, ‘Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?’ She said, ‘No one, Lord.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go and (from now on) sin no more’” (John 8:10-11).

Humility grants access to GRACE, and the humbler we are, the more GRACE we receive. James writes: “But He gives more grace. Therefore, He says: ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble’” (James 4:6).

Jesus is the embodiment of the FULLNESS OF HUMILITY: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:5-8).

Fullness of TRUTH!

Jesus made the statement no one else made: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

Jesus also pointed out the chief characteristic of the devil: “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44).

Here are some of the places Jesus revealed the truth of who He was:

*        Samaritan Woman: “The woman said to Him, ‘I know that Messiah is coming’ (who is called Christ). ‘When He comes, He will tell us all things.’ Jesus said to her, ‘I who speak to you am He’” (John 4:25-26).

·        To the Disciples: “(Jesus) said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ” (Matthew 16:15,16,20).

·        To the Sanhedrin: “As soon as it was day, the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him into their council, saying, ‘If You are the Christ, tell us.’ But He said to them, ‘If I tell you, you will by no means believe. And if I also ask you, you will by no means answer Me or let Me go. Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God’” (Luke 22:66-69).

·        To Pilate: “Pilate therefore said to Him, ‘Are You a king then?’ Jesus answered, ‘You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice’” (John 18:37).

With the fullness of truth, Jesus offers freedom to anyone searching for truth: “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

Fullness of FAITH!

The fig tree that Jesus cursed withered at its roots within 24 hours. His disciples were awestruck, and Jesus offered them the mountain-moving faith: “So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Have faith in (the faith of) God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them’” (Mark 11:22-24).

This is the most familiar passage, quoted by many teachers, and it conveys a message of faith. Jesus refers to the “Faith of God” to move the mountains, but you must understand the price to pay to get to the level of the “faith of God.”

Let us look at Jesus with the demonstration of this level of faith:

·        At this point, Jesus is days away from the cross!

·        Jesus submitted to John the Baptist in baptism to “fulfill all righteousness!”

·        Jesus was filled with, controlled, and led by the Holy Spirit!

·        Jesus was FULL OF GOD’S WORD!

·        Jesus defeated the devil on the Mount of Temptation!

·        Jesus yielded to the Father completely by surrendering His will and stepped into the MISSION THE FATHER HAS SENT HIM FOR!

THIS JESUS CURSED THE FIG TREE IN FAITH, AND THE TREE WITHERED AWAY!

Some of the people (if not all) of faith operate only with foolishness or presumption without walking the walk of Jesus in the fundamentals and in obedience to God. Jesus still paid the price for us to operate in God’s level of faith. Still, we must absolutely be a dedicated vessel, like Abraham, on his way to his ultimate obedience upon the Mount of Moriah, with his statement to Isaac, “God provided Himself a sacrifice,” and “We will return” to the men accompanying him! God honored those statements and spared Isaac from being the sacrifice. We must stop seeing Faith as GAINING but NOT LOSING!

Jesus demonstrated the highest level of faith by His highest level of obedience, for there is no faith without obedience: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:5-8).

Fullness of LOVE!

Jesus defined the fullness of love to His disciples: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13).

In the interchange between Jesus and Peter after His resurrection, Jesus posed the question whether Simon loved Him with “Agape” love (God-kind of love), to which Simon replied that he did with “Philia” (brotherly) love: “So, when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of Jonah, do you love (“Agape”) Me more than these?’ He said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord; You know that I love (“Philia”) You.’ He said to him, ‘Feed My lambs.’ He said to him again a second time, ‘Simon, son of Jonah, do you love (“Agape”) Me?’ He said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord; You know that I love (“Philia”) You.’ He said to him, ‘Tend My sheep.’ He said to him the third time, ‘Simon, son of Jonah, do you love (“Philia”) Me?’ Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, ‘Do you love Me?’ And he said to Him, ‘Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed My sheep’” (John 21:15-17).

In His prayer to the Father, Jesus speaks of His ONENESS with those the Father has given Him and the Love of the Father: “I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me” (John 17:23).

Fulness of the HOLY SPIRIT!

There is one verse by John the Baptist that describes the fullness of the Holy Spirit Jesus carried within: “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand” (John 3:34-35).

In the Old Testament, Moses was filled with the Holy Spirit that God shared with 70 Elders; Elisha received a double measure of the Spirit that was upon Elijah. Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit without measure!

I follow Jesus as my PERFECT EXAMPLE to aim for the FULLNESS OF GOD IN MY LIFE.

Jesus was Full of God’s Word, the Scriptures!

Jesus was manifested with the Fullness of GRACE with His HUMILITY!

Jesus was the embodiment of the Fullness of TRUTH!

Jesus was filled with the Fullness of FAITH With of His ULTIMATE OBEDIENCE!

Jesus was the Perfect Vessel of GOD’S DIVINE LOVE!

Jesus was filled with the Fullness of the HOLY SPIRIT WITHOUT MEASURE!

Here is a Simple Prayer to be filled with the FULLNESS OF GOD: “Father, fill me with the Fullness of God. PLEASE FILL ME WITH JESUS. Amen!”
